Anarchist Fiction dot Net exists as a resource for those interested in anarchist fiction, whether for scholarly pursuits or just to find books written by or about those who oppose the existence of the state.
When we say “Anarchist,” we are referring to the tradition of politics that claims that there ought not be coercive governments in this world, that people have a right to self-governance. One good introduction to anarchism can be found at the About AK Press page (AK Press is an anarchist book publisher). A more complete overview can be found on wikipedia’s page on anarchism. Anarchism is actually a very wide political spectrum, and we seek to encompass most all of it. There are two groups, however, that claim affiliation with anarchism whom we reject and will not be including in these pages: National Anarchism (more properly a part of fascism than anarchism), and Anarcho-capitalism (which is more closely aligned with capitalism than with the traditions of anarchism).
As for what we mean when we say fiction, we mean the quite broad spectrum of storytelling, of entertaining and informative lies. We include, and perhaps focus on, printed literature, but are not averse to graphic novels, narrative poetry, theater, screenplays, or perhaps even interactive fiction, like videogames and pen-and-paper roleplaying games.
The site is maintained by a loose affiliation of volunteers, many of whom are authors themselves. To get in contact with the project, whether to volunteer or to offer suggestions/critiques/donations, write us at admin [at] anarchistfiction.net
